Oregano-Not Just for Pizza Anymore!

Holy herbs!  I can’t believe it!  This stuff is amazing! My acquaintance with this powerful stuff happened quite by accident. I’ve been educating myself on homeopathic remedies and it’s been rubbing off on my husband.  One night after being bitten by mosquitoes he looked up ways to stop the itching naturally.  He wound up going into the kitchen and boiling oregano for about 10 minutes.  He applied it the bites and the itch instantly went away. Since he had used half the bottle from Sam’s Club, I had him put it away in the fridge and it stayed there for months.

Recently, since it’s now winter time, my kids’ skin has been suffering and my daughter’s eczema has been flaring up which makes the viral molluscum she can’t get rid of even worse because she scratches all the time. I decided to put some heavy duty cream on her skin, but her skin started burning.  I put her in an oatmeal bath and googled some natural eczema remedies.  Lo and behold oregano was there to help stop the itching.  It dawned on me that I could put it on her butt which seemed the most chapped and had all of her molluscum bumps. Molluscum is viral and supposedly lasts “forever” with little to no remedy.  Within days, the bumps appeared to be drying up! Not only has it been clearing her molluscum bumps up, the wart on my thumb that I was using to apply it to her skin, has shrunk.  IT SHRUNK!

Why does it work?  There are components called carvacrol, thymol, and rosmarinic acid.  Essentially, these chemicals collectively have antimicrobial properties, antifungal properties, anti- inflammatory and antiviral properties.  It’s one of nature’s most complete remedies and has a slew of other uses.

It’s good to know that there are things I can do to help my kids that are safe and effective.  I’m adding this one to my arsenal for the Rainbow Baby!
